Slingshot
A slingshot was the first hunting tool used by young hunters for their first kill.
Hunters had to rely on their accuracy to successfully hit their target.
Slingshots were never used for target practice.
It was primarily used to hunt birds.

Long ago sling shots were not used, sling made with a piece of string called ᐧᐁᐸᐦᐋᔥᐧᑳᓐ was used. It was later that the slingshot ᑕᓯᐹᔅᑯᓂᑲᓐ came about.
Slingshot elastic ᑳᓰᐱᔥᑌᐸᔨᒡ was taken from the tire tube.
We still carry slingshots around and we teach children how to use them.
The only problem is finding stones ᐊᓯᓃᐦ, we would break pieces from big rocks.

My cousin and I would collect lots of stones and store them away for winter use.

Long ago, it was used to kill food. Partridge was one.
It’s made with wood ᒥᔥᑎᒄ and an elastic ᑳᓰᐱᔥᑌᐸᔨᐦᒡ is attached to it, and a piece of moosehide on each end of the rubber.
Small stones ᐊᓯᓃᐦ were collected where it’s sandy, and sometimes pinecones.
A slingshot ᑳᓰᐱᔥᒋᐸᔨᐦᒡ was given to a child before handing them a gun.

It was given to children to learn to hunt small game. Like birds, there are some birds that are very smart ᒥᔥᑕ ᓂᐦᐋᔓᐧᐁᐤ you can’t go near them, you will need to approach them very slowly.
A child really enjoyed hunting using a slingshot.
