Student Pathways

The Cree School Board supports many pathways for students to achieve their educational goals.

Typical Student Pathways

While it is typical for a student to enter the system in Kindergarten or Pre-Kindergarten and travel through Secondary V, every child is unique. For this reason, we offer support through a Work-Oriented Training Path as well as Specialized Programs such as Mikw Chiyâm and the Aboriginal Youth Entrepreneurship Program.

Youth

The Cree School Board offers youth education at 15 schools in nine communities ranging from Pre-Kindergarten to Secondary V. In some communities, one principal presides over more than one school. In all communities, the Board supports students through focused leadership, best practices and collaboration with partners.

Adult

We believe that inspired learning can happen at any age! We offer educational opportunities to adults in each of our nine communities and operate a Regional Vocational Training Centre that includes residence facilities. Students may upgrade their high school education through our General Education programs, or prepare to enter the workforce with Vocational Training.

Post-Secondary

To help prepare students for Post-Secondary Studies, we offer both financial and social supports. Students who complete high school may advance their education through Cegep (Collège d'enseignement général et professionnel), college, university, and other professional routes. We also offer quiet study space and resources at each of our offices (Gatineau and Montreal).
