Welcome message from school principal
At École Wiinibeckuu School, we are committed to providing a safe, caring and rich learning environment for all students. In partnership with our parents & community. Student well-being and achievement are our top priority. We encourage every student to reach his or her full potential in an inclusive community and to live and work in a multi-lingual centre. We hope to nurture, support and inspire students on their road to becoming compassionate, confident and responsible graduates.
We remind you to like us on Facebook and visit this website and school calendar and to ensure that we always have your updated contact numbers as well as an email address. We regularly send out information through email. Our office door is always open, and we welcome you to come in and discuss any ideas, questions or concerns that you might have. We look forward to working in partnership with you for a successful school year!
MikwChiyâm is a year-long arts program that brings professional artists into schools to work alongside students and teachers in creative, hands-on workshops.
Designed by the Cree School Board, the program uses music, visual arts, spoken word, film, art appreciation activities, and more to encourage self-expression and strengthen connections to culture and community. At the end of each residency, a celebration is held to showcase students’ achievements as they share their work with family and community members.
For students, MikwChiyâm is more than an art class — it’s a space to explore who they are, find their voice, and develop skills that support personal growth and academic success.
For parents and caregivers, it’s a meaningful way to keep youth engaged in school by giving them a reason to attend and be proud of what they create.
By making school a place where students feel seen, heard, and inspired, MikwChiyâm helps them stay in school, graduate, and dream bigger.
