We are sad to learn of the passing of a long-time member of the Cree School Board family, Frances Blackned Visitor on Sunday, March 24, 2024. Frances was a dedicated educator and committed advocate of the Cree language whose passion for teaching spanned 38 years with the Cree School Board. Her commitment to empowering students and unwavering dedication to excellence have inspired generations of Eeyou/Eenou.
All students currently enrolled in our schools are re-registered yearly using the Mozaïk Parent Portal. Parents can now re-register their child(ren) for the 2024-2025 School Year!
The deadline for completing the re-registration is Friday, June 7, 2024 at 5 p.m.

Florrie Mark-Stewart
April 3, 1934 – February 3, 2024
Florrie Mark-Stewart was a respected Cree educator who devoted her life to preserving our language and culture within the classroom. Florrie, known for her love for students and collaboration with colleagues, expanded her influence beyond the classroom, becoming a beacon of knowledge who left a lasting impact on the Cree Nation.
On the weekend of November 17-19, 2023, students from across the Cree Nation gathered in Wemindji and Mistissini for the CSB Basketball & Volleyball Tournament. Community gymnasiums buzzed with excitement as students enjoyed friendly competition and spectators cheered along.
Looking back on the first half of the school year, I am truly energized by the wonderful journey we have shared. The implementation of iiyiyiuiyihtiwin has been a particular highlight, emphasizing the importance of putting Cree culture, language, and worldview at the heart of everything we do. Thank you to our teachers, school employees, administrators, and education partners for supporting this uniquely Cree vision for education. Your hard work makes such a difference for our students and our Nation. I am inspired by the progress we have made together and look forward to what is to come!
We are excited to launch our Cree Language Mentorship Initiative, an important initiative to increase teaching support of the Oral Cree Language in our Pre-K and Kindergarten classrooms. At the Cree School Board, we're committed to strengthening the Cree language, particularly in the early years. Our recent Language Assessment study highlighted the urgent need to support our teachers and preserve our language for our students. Given that all Pre-K and Kindergarten classrooms within the Cree School Board are expected to be taught in Cree, we've created a plan to offer additional support and resources to our teachers at these levels.
In our ongoing effort towards enhancing student success and community engagement, the Cree School Board has released its 2021-2026 Strategic Action Plan (SAP) online. This plan outlines the board's vision, mission, and strategies for supporting our educational excellence in our schools and communities for our students.
