Wemindji hosts Regional Science Fair

The Regional Science Fair with 50 students from around Eeyou Istchee gathered for a science project competition with the theme of “Traditions at Heart for a ‘Green Tomorrow.’” The fair took place on March 4 at Joy Ottereyes Rainbow Memorial School in Wemindji.

The winning projects received cash prizes as well as the opportunity to participate in the Quebec Aboriginal Science Fair (QASF), which will be held in Trois-Rivière March 24-26, 2020.

Here is the full list of the winners:

Cycle One elementary (Grade 1 & 2)
  • 1st place “Camouflage” – Anna Emily Wapachee
  • 2nd place “Plants” – Kaileb Whiskeychan & Dayna Salt
  • 3rd – “Sink or Float” – Blayze Cheezo & Olivia Gilpin
Cycle Two Elementary Grade 3 & 4
