Regional Public Speaking Contest Winners Announced

The Badabin Eeyou School hosted the CSB 2021 Regional Public Speaking Contest during the week of April 19, 2021. Students could videotape their speeches and submit them to a panel of judges for review. This year's competition was entirely online.
Speeches on environmental issues affecting the Cree Nation, the importance of preserving the Cree language, making changes in Cree communities, and how the COVID-19 pandemic affected them were among the contest topics.
Faris Malkawi of Waskaganish and Christ Dali of Mistissini finished first in their respective language categories. The Cree category was open for students to compete in this year's speaking contest, but none were received.
