Naatimaatutaau ᓈᑎᒫᑐᑖᐤ – Issues 07-09 Now Available Online

We’re excited to share the latest editions of the CSB community newsletter – Naatimaatutaau! Issues 07, 08, and 09 are now available to read online in iiyiyiu, English, and French. Each issue highlights stories, updates from our schools, and voices from across iiyiyiu aschii.

 Issue 09 – Cree School Board Newsletter

  • CSB students earned top awards at the Quebec Indigenous Science Fair, with two selected for the Canada-Wide Science Fair.
  • Nine communities gathered in Mistissini for the iinuu metawewinh Games, celebrating Cree identity through traditional skills and knowledge.
  • The new Sabtuan Learning Centre in Oujé-Bougoumou opened its doors, expanding adult education and career training opportunities. 

Issue 08 – Cree School Board Newsletter

  • The 3rd Language and Culture Symposium celebrated Cree language through workshops, keynote speakers, and new educational materials.
  • The Cree Language Mentorship Initiative continued to grow, pairing mentors with Pre-K and Kindergarten teachers to strengthen early instruction.
  • Adult learners were honoured at a long-awaited graduation ceremony, recognizing achievements across 11 Sabtuan programs.

Issue 07 – Summer 2024

  • Families and staff shared ideas during the Community Engagement Tour to help shape the future of Eeyou education.
  • Elders and Traditional Knowledge Keepers recorded 42 videos in Cree to preserve teachings for future generations.
  • Students participated in regional events like science fairs, sports tournaments, and public speaking contests that brought communities together.
