Coronavirus (COVID-19) Updates Week 4
UPDATED Monday, April 6, 2020 5:00 p.m.
Beginning today, Secondary V students currently registered with the Cree School Board can expect a new, specific and exceptional approach to learning and evaluation for the 2019 – 2020 school year.
Due to the health risks associated with classroom attendance, we are launching a robust distance learning plan that will help set up our “Class of 2020” students to succeed this year. The Departments of School Operations and Education Services have collaborated to offer dedicated tutoring, project guidance, and evaluation for all subjects.

What can I expect?
If you are a Secondary V student, you will receive a call from the school to help identify your needs and next steps. We will assign you a mentor to assist you in the online learning program.
We will begin to ensure you are equipped with technology so that you can access online learning sites.
Beginning today, we will issue a weekly schedule of activities for you to follow. By keeping this schedule, you will set yourself up for success in June.
While there will be no exams – Ministry or CSB – in June, final evaluation will be based on projects, participation, assignment completion, and demonstration of competencies.
What learning will look like will vary across communities and by subject. For example, for science and math, our students will have a dedicated tutor. For other subjects, they will be given projects to complete more independently.
Please note that we are launching our Secondary V Platform today with English sector Math, English and Cree courses; French sector has Français and Cree. More will be coming in the next week.
As always, we will assist each student to reach their potential this year, despite these exceptional circumstances. We invite all inquiries around our Class of 2020 Success program to the following email, which is monitored regularly.
