Goose Calling Contest
Some people don’t have the gift or know how to goose call. He recalls his father couldn’t call geese on the other hand his mother had a gift to call geese.
He mentioned how on many occasions his father would ask his mother to call the geese when they were out hunting.
He proudly remembers that, long ago, during a goose-calling contest, his mother won the competition.
He mentions some have the voice for it.

What I saw, the people living on the coast ᐧᐄᓂᐯᑰ were good goose calling ᐁᐦ ᒋᔅᑐᐦᐄᑳᓄᐎᐦᒡ because they sat and called the geese ᒌᐦ ᒋᔅᑐᐦᐁᐅᒡ ᓂᔅᒃ when they hunted.
In our area, people from inland ᓅᐦᒋᒦᐅᐄᓅᒡ, we did not sit to wait for the geese to come. We paddled around to look for geese.
Long ago, I didn’t see too many people calling geese ᐁᐦ ᒋᔅᑐᐦᐄᔅᑳᓄᐧᐃᐦᒡ.

What I’ve known and seen, goose was not hunted long ago.
Wild game was plentiful and hunters concentrated on their fur trades.
There was plenty of geese, and the preservation of animals was important to all hunters and watched how much geese to kill.
The geese was killed only in range, they were not shot at if they knew it was not possible to kill them.
People called geese ᒋᔅᑐᐦᐅᑲᓅᑦ are very good at imitating the geese.

Some men cannot call the geese ᒋᔅᑐᐦᐁᐅᒡ ᓂᔅᒃ and there are some woman that are capable to call geese. Children are also taught to call geese.
When calling geese ᐁᐦ ᒋᔅᑐᐦᐄᔅᑳᓄᐧᐃᐦᒡ, It is done because you want the geese to land and that is when they get to shoot when it lands.
