Become a licenced Class 1 truck driver with this specialized program

Class 1 licence enables you to drive:

  • A road tractor with 2 axles whose net weight is 4,500 kg or more, hauling one or more trailers or semi-trailers;
  • A road tractor with three axles or more hauling one or more trailers or semi-trailers;
  • A truck covered by Class 3 hauling a trailer or semi-trailer whose net weight is 4,500 kg or more and which is only used to transport equipment, tools or furnishings as part of its permanent equipment;
  • A truck covered by Class 3 hauling any trailer or semi-trailer other than those described above and whose net weight is 2,000 kg or more

Do you have the prerequisites?

  • Education:  Secondary IV language of instruction, second language and mathematics or successful completion of the General Development Test
  • Driving experience: Hold a class 5 driver’s licence for at least 36 months with no more than 3 demerit points
  • Health: Pass an pdf SAAQ vision test and medical examination

Identify the courses or program you wish to take

Review your options and build a learning plan with the adult education guidance counsellor.

Bring documents to your local Adult Education Office

Bring your birth certificate, social insurance number, and school reports/transcripts to your local Adult Education office. If you are applying for a vocational program, please contact your Local Education Consultant for more details on necessary documents. Find my local adult education office.

Fill out an application

If you applied for General Education classes, welcome! You may be able to start immediately after submitting your application. If you applied for a Vocational Program, you will be contacted following the selection process.
