The intent of this program is to prepare teachers to be as strong in their language and culture as their communities require. The courses in the program are offered in the communities working in partnership with McGill University.


The Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) Kindergarten and Elementary Education First Nations and Inuit Studies program requires 120 credits, with four field experiences, and leads to teacher certification with the Ministry of Education (MES).

Admission Criteria

  • 23 years old with a high school diploma
    OR
    A cégep diploma holder (of any age)
  • A Cree beneficiary (living in the Cree communities)
